Gay Weddings

New Zealand was the first country in the Asia-Pacific region – to legalise same-sex marriage. A law change which took effect in August 2013 gives same-sex couples the same marriage rights as heterosexual couples, which is legally recognised in countries, like Germany, Switzerland and Austria.

Naming Ceremony

The birth of a baby is a cause of celebration for parents all across the globe. Different cultures honour the arrival of a new-born in different ways, and each is unique in its own right. The ceremony enables family and friends to celebrate the joy of welcoming a new life into the world. A Naming Ceremony has become a beautiful alternative to baptism. It is a formal and dignified non-religious ceremony to celebrate the birth of a child, or welcome an adopted child or step-child into a new family. The child or children can be of any age.

Naming Ceremonies are normally performed at the family home, or garden. The parents also appoint guardians/mentors at these ceremonies. The ceremony provides an opportunity to:

  • Welcome the child into the family and wider community.

  • Announce the chosen names.

  • Announce commitments to nurture and support the child into adult life.

  • Choose other adults prepared to promise a special supportive relationship to the child.

We will design a personalised naming ceremony for your child/children. The ceremony can also include candle lighting, tree planting or other symbolic gestures. At the end of the ceremony we will present you with your Child's Naming Certificate.
